About Mandy

 

Mandy has been in the entertainment business for 26 years. She has an extensive background in acting, directing, costuming, and drama education. At the age of 7 she began acting in school and at the community theatre in Ames, Iowa. She then went on to receive a certificate of acting from The Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting in New York City, a world renowned acting studio. It was in New York where Mandy began working closely with young children. She taught Gymboree Play and Music classes and Kindermusik classes. She was also a nanny to several New York children.

On returning to Iowa, Mandy completed her Bachelors of Arts from Iowa State University in Performing Arts. Next, she went to work teaching drama to children ages 3 to 18 at The Des Moines Playhouse.

Mandy has also directed 8 full sized productions at ACTORS in Ames, Iowa. Two of those productions were Peter Pan or the boy who wouldn’t grow up and The Hobbit. Mandy directed and costumed both of those plays that featured 30 children from the age of 8 to the age of 18.

Mandy assistant directed The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at the Des Moines Playhouse in 2008.  This show casts between 45 and 50 Des Moines area children ages 8-15.  Mandy is also a theatre artist on the roster of Metro Arts Alliance with whom she teaches drama workshops to Des Moines children.  In the summer of 2010, Mandy was the Drama Specialist at Engman Camp Shalom in Waukee.  There she taught drama to children ages 5-12.

Mandy is also the mother of a 4 year old son, named Evan.  Her full time job is staying home to raise him.

 
Mandy is now combining her theatrical expertise with her genuine love of children in order to bring high-quality, exciting and imaginative entertainment to the children of central Iowa.
